Doing IVF? Why Include Acupuncture?

  1. Acupuncture can be used to increase fertility: Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body. Studies have shown that acupuncture can increase blood flow to the ovaries and uterus, which can improve the chances of conception. Additionally, acupuncture can regulate hormonal imbalances, which can be a cause of infertility.

  2. Acupuncture can be used in conjunction with IVF: In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a common treatment for infertility, and acupuncture can be used alongside IVF to increase the chances of success. Research has shown that women who received acupuncture before and after their IVF transfer had higher pregnancy rates compared to those who did not receive acupuncture.

  3. Acupuncture can help to reduce stress: Infertility can be a stressful and emotionally taxing experience. Acupuncture has been shown to reduce the levels of stress hormones in the body, which can help to improve the chances of conception. Additionally, acupuncture can help to improve emotional well-being and reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety.

  4. Acupuncture is a safe procedure when performed by a qualified and licensed acupuncturist.

  5. Acupuncture is not a guarantee: While acupuncture can be an effective treatment for infertility, it is not a guaranteed solution; similar to IVF.  The effectiveness of acupuncture may vary from person to person (just like IVF).
